- Bradpole is an old village now joined
to Bridport by housing and industrial estates on its southern side. It is
the home of a variety of people having a generally younger population that
the rest of the Bridport Team area. A Victorian church with an interesting
spire Holy Trinity boasts eight bells and some interesting stained glass.
The church is built on rise and a glimpse of the sea at West Bay two miles
to the south can be gained from the churchyard.
- Holy Trinity has a wide spread of ages
in the congregation. Up to 150 people worship each Sunday. The vast majority
of them come from the local community. There is a wide range of Sunday
and mid week services
which include Common Worship and the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. There is
a monthly Service of Worship in which worship is led by an orchestra and
a Music Group. There is a Tuesdays Together group who have a BCP Communion
Service at 2.30 in the afternoon on the first Tuesday in the month, this is followed by tea
and coffee.
- There are several mid week Fellowship
Groups, an active Mothers’ Union, a strong bell ringing team, a church choir,
a monthly service for preschool children linked to the Church Playgroup and
a twice monthly Luncheon Club for older people. There are nine Lay
Pastoral Assistants and a strong Pastoral Scheme. From April 2002 there has
been a mid-week Children’s Club to supplement the Sunday children’s work
and the Holiday Clubs.
- The Church has recently completed
an Open Access Project, which gives
access for disabled people in the church and a toilet facility. The long
term aim is for the Church to have greater community use.
